I've used the bear trap a good few times. I some times put it in a bush it's off the floor and harder to spot. Or at the very top of ladders.

You can also put a trip wire with a grenade, with a land mine in any walk way.
The land mine will uncon them and then the grenade kills em 5 seconds later 😂

You could just glitch it into the bottom step too right too where its barley visible? I know it works for most placeables and I've done it with a bear trap on cabin door steps and other houses but never tried steps like those
