Yes it makes sense. Thank you for your videos . My stims it seems, have mostly been regulatory in response to all that's around me - maybe that I do not comprehend due to brain lag of some sort. From the age of about eleven or twelve I used to make hobby electric motors from bits and pieces from discarded electrical goods - magnets and wire. I was totally focused for hours - nothing else existed. It was stimming. It was a creative pathway. Your videos provide understanding. Thank you again.

You are so calming!! I have adhd but a lot of this applies to that and I find that this side of being neurodivergent isn’t talked about in that context !

I sing songs to vent and regulate... But in a different style/emotion emphasised to the original, based on my ND (different) interpretations of the lyrics. Eg Can't Get You Out Of My Head - instead of a fluffy/vapid pop song, I make it a more tortured jazz version full of emotion from a character who is going crazy coz the person is all they can think of / is it unrequited? Etc. Releasing the emotions that feel bigger than me is necessary before I implode.

Thank you for your videos. They've helped me understand my son better.
This video is more along the lines of my stimming. Today I actually went to a store that had clothing (it's been basically 2 years since I've done that!), and I was doing my tactile stim, which is having to feel and rub all the fabrics I could (without totally driving my husband nuts). It was a quick stim, and I really wanted to stay longer just to feel all the different fabrics, but I couldn't (😭); at least I got some great stimming in and my husband didn't lose his patience. 😊

Now that I understand my need, I don't care what other people think. And I'll even often invite people to "feel this, isn't that interesting?" and people will usually do it, even complete strangers, and usually without negativity! It's freeing.

Keep up the great work of showing that what may appear abnormal, when viewed just slightly different, becomes completely "normal

If anyone is wondering, the thing you create if you're not recording is an experience for yourself, in the moment, and non-autistic struggle to see that as valuable cause the sensory need for that experience is not that strong for them and they struggle to relate to us.

When I was 16, I wrote a long journal entry about,”what is normal?”

Come to find out I would have a child with autism. Was it an innate sense of foreshadowing? My child was apart of me since I was born.
