"I don't want £20. I dont want £15. Not even £10. At £5, I'm giving it away. You lot are robbing me blind". We had these sorts of characters at my local market, just north of London, when I was younger. Always entertaining😂

I remember how entertaining it was to visit the London street markets because of the characters selling on the stalls. Fun times even on a rainy day.

My family can be traced back on both sides to almost 300 years in exactly this area right over to Roman Road market. They were market traders selling clothes and before that they made clothes. My parents brought shell suits to the East End in the 80's 😂

That's an accent you don't hear in London now. Gone in a lifetime.

70s Brick lane dog market, a guy selling hot Sarsaparilla and dunking the glass in a bucket of grey water to clean it, the smells of greasy food, grubby looking people everywhere…I miss it so much !

This is the closest we’ll ever get to time travel. I often fantasise about going back in time to the 50s or 60s and just walking around a town and pubs to see the massive differences. This is what I’d see ♥️

Loved visiting Petticoat Lane. My aunt warned me to hold onto my stuff otherwise it would get stolen at one end and sold back to you at the other. And then there was the stop at Tubby Isaac’s for cockles and a nice bowl of jellied eels.
