The featured speaker in this video is former Blue Angels pilot, Jim "Jungle" Ross. Prior to joining the Team, Ross deployed to South East Asia where he flew cover during the evacuation of Saigon as part of Operation Frequent Wind, which took place on April 29th, 1975.

Aw, how nice that they let the helicopters take a swim after a long day.

As a side note- there was an alternative plan to evacuate the Ambassador by boat. My older brother was assigned to the mission as the engine man. His ship was pushing off the helicopters.

My dad was a Vietnam vet I saw that when I was a kid it boggled my mind but only until years after I understood why they did that

A travesty. It's pathetic that schools don't teach history like this. We're going through a lot of the same old crap again because history isn't being taught

I still don’t understand this war. My father who NEVER MENTIONED THAT HE WAS a pilot in Vietnam died in 2000. Holding that with him. Never told any of us. We found out at his funeral when all these ppl came strangers to him I’m sure an us. We assumed they got the wrong funeral. The moment was like somthing out of a movie. When they draped my father’s casket with the American flag we lost it. To know this man all my life. To know that even my own mother had no clue. Cause they got married later. It’s insane. The kicker I was born in 77!!! My sister 73 brother 71. How can anyone do that? Telling me obviously it has to be in the 60s then. To think he suffered in silence. To afraid to speak. To afraid he will be looked at as a coward. Is truly heartbreaking

So the taxpayer paid for these helicopters. And they threw them in the water. I'm not saying anything bad about it. I think it's just a waste. Not to mention all those soldiers who died. And still lost the war.
