It's 100% true. I'm native Polish. I still remember my FCE exam I took when I was 17. My grammar knowledge was solid, vocabulary range quite good... I though the worst will be the speaking part (my spoken English is just from English classes taken at school). The examiner was one of the three English-speaking natives I've ever met and had a chance to talk too. I was scared-stiff right before entering the room but as soon as I was in and saw those smiling and friendly faces (just one person was doing the talking), all my stress somehow disappeared. I was trying my best to keep the conversation going, not really thinking too much. And you know what? I did best with the speaking part and I did worse with the grammar part (which I thought was my strongest) 😅

Hello, Ben!
Thank you for a good tip but actually I think it's human nature to analyse what we have said even in our native language. Haven't you had at least one situation when you spoke to yourself after a conversation and thought: I should have said that or this...
So as for me, generally it's ok! But of course not during the exam 😄
Thank you for your amazing work and great advice!
Best regards to Amy and the bonsai tree)
