I have read most of the series. The first book i barely understood, but it actually does get really, really good.

Into the storm tries to be unique but a lot of the plot beats feel too familiar. These kinds of books definitely feel like the popcorn flicks of books, haha

Bought this book many years ago and it sat unread on my shelf for a long time. Recently went through my unread books to see what I still might want to read and this didn't make the cut; glad to hear I'm not missing out on much at all

No o e in the vomments listen to this guy. The series is actually very unique in how things play out, with a lot of twists and turns that don't really appear until the second book. The entire 15 book series is amazing, and anyone who stops at book 1 because it only seems to not be very original is, frankly, not attentive and is mossong out on a LOT.

It kinda baffles me that people read this stuff. Like you have a finite amount of time on this earth and it is impossible to read every single book. You have to deliberately choose which ones are worth your time which is quite literally the most precious resource you have. Why would you waste it on pulpy jingoist genre fiction? For every one of those you read there’s a classic work of literature that goes unread on your shelf— is it worth the trade really?
People obsess over the things they eat or physically put into their body; if something is unhealthy or wasteful or unrefined, they try to avoid it at all costs. No one would pick a fast food meal over a 5 star chefs cooking if presented both as an option, you know? So why should the art we consume be any different? If you have the choice to read something like this or something with actual literary substance to it, why would you ever forgo the latter for the former? It genuinely baffles me.
