Tighten & seal the flange by turning - it’s an internal compression seal. And LOVE that crunchy debris between the fixture and tile.. any DIY handyman would do a better job.

You’re supposed to “twist” the flange even before screwing it until it gets tight. It twists the rubber gasket up the flange making a seal along the pipe for sewer gases. Don’t just push it in and screw it. The video is a bit misleading in short format. After you twist it snug the. You screw it in the correct orientation to receive your bolts.

Love your videos, you are my favorite remodeling channel. I’ve been remodeling my two daughters bathroom and wish I had seen your go board videos sooner. I went with kerdi board and ditra membrane on the floors. The thinset application and all the banding really sucked to put in and try and keep flat. Way too much thinset with schluter stuff!

Appreciate all your videos man , go Eagles though, I’m from south central PA, saw you are from Pittsburgh 😊

This guy is obviously not a plumber.... the flange is suppose to sit above the finished floor, not level or below it... that jumbo no seep wax ring will leal after a few years,.maybe sooner, if the toilet is loose

Exactly what happened to me on my last bath renovation. Was able to cut much of the drain pipe below where the old flange stopped. With a little bit of of cleaning I was able to put a new flange over the original drain.

Should probably vacuum up all the debris before setting the flange and toilet.

Ta dah 🙌 non-code compliant...

Going from a 3 inch to anything less is not plumbing... Code requires 4-3 inch septic main, without proper sealing and bottlenecking the flow at the flange is seriously testing that rubber gasket 😂

Yes, this job is bigger than just a floor, and as a contractor you should have that in the potential bid on the job... Cast iron and galvanized pipes always means twice the work... Alwa

Still amazes me to see those still in use. Most toilets in Germany are wall-mounted since the 90s. Even those on the floor drain to the back.

I’m in California. We usually have cast iron or abs. I’ve never came across copper waste. When I have had this situation I cut it with a grinder and use a compression flange

Restricts the pipe.

Still too low, flange should be sitting on top of finish floor height

I wouldn't use that... Only a 3-in more susceptible to clogs

I think you are supposed to twist the flange to tighten the gasket down. atleast that how the one I installed was. thats why there are threads on the flange

I love em' but, hate restricting the line because a lot of people don't know how to use paper or put to much of anything down there...but, it's usually the best, easiest, most cost effective way to do it.

You didn’t even install it correctly

Sure, for plastic or copper. What if it's a 1960s era cast iron pipe that is built like an old John Deere tractor?

Or buy a reamer if it's pvc/abs and glue the correct flange heh
