Cooking doesn’t need to be challenging or complicated. Often, you're simply looking for a recipe that gets you most of the way there with minimal fuss.

Chinese steamed fish is a favorite for many growing up but it typically requires buying, descaling, and cleaning a whole fish. This recipe will get you from frozen to finished in less than 20 minutes while still delivering flavor as if mom made it.

Ingredients:

1 frozen sea bass filet
2 inch ginger, julienned
1 - 2 green onions, julienned
2 tbsp vegetable oil (or another neutral oil)
1.5 tbsp soy sauce

Instructions

Place the frozen filet in a steamer basket
Place ginger and scallion whites on top of fish
Steam for 10-11 minutes over simmering water (medium high heat)
Heat up vegetable oil to 350F degrees, or when the oil begins shimmering / shows slight wisp of smoke (please keep an eye on the oil to prevent accidentally starting a fire)
Place the remaining scallion greens on top of the steamed fish
Drizzle hot oil on top of the scallion greens and fish
Finish with soy sauce on top

Enjoy!

An emphasis on the simple and enjoyable is a nice different side of cooking youtube. I like this concept. Some people go overboard with fanciness, others try to do a dish with only 3 ingredients, this feels more earnest

be careful with these kinds of filets I've found bones before in the salmon ones. it's usually only one bone but it's still somewhat big and sharp.
