I'm still working for my first trucking company. Over the course of 2 years I have seen over 100 drivers come and go. The reason is the bidding system and the amount of available good routes. The recruiter gives the sales pitch with half truths. Meaning they tell people inquiring about all of these 5 or 6 hour routes we have available. True! What they don't tell you is those routes are never available to lower bidders because The top bidders take them every single month. For example, the #1 bidder we have has been with the company 18 years. Nearly 15 of those years he has been on the exact same route. Everyone wants it, but he never relinquishes it. And there are usually only 3 short routes. Those never make it outside of the top 10 bidders. New drivers will have a bid order in the 50's. My first bid, I was #59. I can no longer say it takes patience because it could be 15 years before you reach the top. So people come and go because the remaining routes are not ideal.
