My dad was a C130 navigator and Navigator instructor. The C130 can fly as nimble as the pilot can make it. My dad never flew in that massive amount of fire, but he did have a few missiles shot at his plane when deployed. Most of his deployment missions were dropping off cargo. But he does have a combat badge for being shot at while in flight. C130s are such graceful and nimble giants

Because of that C-130 getting shot up it delayed my airlift into Iraq a couple of days later.

Pretty sure he’s talking about 10th group… they had to fly in from Jordan if i recall and 1 out of the 5 birds, the one he was in apparently had to divert to Turkey but the rest of 10th group made it without casualties. They then helped the Kurds do a ton of damamge up north!!!

I was in 10th Mountain Division the first reactivated unit in 1985 and we were stationed on Fort Benning and a different battalion had post detail and were guarding the C-130’s and C-141’s for Airborne School and someone left a lunch cooler in the cowling at the front of the jet and forgot it and it wasn’t found before they fired up the jet engines and it fried an engine and several people were relieved of command and I think the soldier was court martialed
