Saint Callistus facts

Saint Callistus was a slave as a young man. Known for mercy to everyone and even hated because of it by some of St. Callistus (also known as St. Callixtus) his contemporaries in the church at the time. Saint Callistus had gained influence from his master and put in charge of money. But after loss of the funds and starting an argument when fighting in a synagogue to get the money and also denounced as a Christian, he was sent to the mines of Sardinia.
After getting released from the mines, Saint Callistus was appointed as superintendent of the Christian cemetery on the Appian way.
Saint Callistus became the Pope (also called the Bishop of Rome) in 217
