My favorite plane is probably the
Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird

I use a Japanese Kanna and it's the only style plane I've ever used. I think there's something beautiful about the simplicity of old school wooden planes. But it's a personal preference and different styles work better for different people. The best handplane (or any tool really) is whatever works best for you!

I recently did my first bit of woodwork using what iI learned from you. All I did was decrease the angle of a wooden doorcatch that was too steep to properly wedge itself under the door, but I also did it with only a screwdriver and a rubber mallet full of sand.

I like the wooden plane because adjusting the iron involves hitting it with a hammer.

The ones with the wooden body inside the metal frame are so damn pretty 😍

The blade also should have a slight curve to it to prevent jamming, no one told me this and I found out the hard way after sharpening

My dad left quite a few planes after he passed 10 years ago. I haven't had the time or heart to set myself in to it, but I am slowly starting to after watching your videos about them. Any tips to what or where to start?

We're finally talking about Krenov planes! Seriously, if you haven't done so yet, go buy a Krenov iron/kit, or use a chisel . They're a ton of fun.

Rex. Seriously can I laminate 4/4 quarter sawn black locust together to make a no 7 ish size and a no 5 ish size set of planes? Is 2 3/8" the right size plane iron? Krenove style. I know I spelled that wrong....

I hope I'm not the only person that thinks that those planes are attractive-looking tools.. their design is pleasant on the eye.

The best one is the one you happen to already own and have at hand
