My dad actually convinced me to join. He played trumpet in middle and high school and I eventually decided to follow. Now, I’ve been playing trumpet for four years and I’ve participated in multiple state competitions, met some really cool people, and it’s my favorite thing to do!

Both of my parents are musicians so when I began to show interest in band they were very excited. I've now been in band for 3 years. 3 years I've been in a symphonic / concert band and I've been in a Jazz Ensemble for 2 years. I've played trombone for 3 years, and even though I've only been in jazz for 2, I've played bass guitar for 4 years. Keep up the good work Mrs Allen I love your content :)

My parents looked at my schedule and didn't mind me being in the band. Was Bb clarinet in beginning band and I'm now Bass Clarinet in the Concert band. My parents are really proud of me.

I love when I see kids from other schools that I've played at join my school bands, it makes me so happy to see that they enjoy band enough to take it in high school

When i was in middle school in 5th grade, I didnt want to join band, (mainly because i thought it was like the parades with bands and loud firetrucks) But last minute on the last week of school, I decided to join as a trombone. When I tell you it was the best decision of my life, I'm an 8th grader now planning to go to Julliard for music school.

My parents were fine with me joining and I’ve been a sorta loud and definitely proud flute player! My teacher let me barrow one of the schools piccolos so I have auditions on the next 2 weeks!

i’m currently a senior in high school. i plan to audition at north texas for music education!!
we recently went and did a middle school tour. we play our competitive show music, some other fun tunes, in full uniform and all the glam and we talk to kids and invite them to band.
i went back to my middle school. i played some of the last notes of my show, and last notes in that school i’ll play as a band kid. i am a primary flute and piccolo player, but i play marimba and was the break drum soloist this year!!
there was a kid who was watching me the whole time. i figured out he was in 6th grade and he had just joined band. i’m not sure what he plays, but when i went to hand out the information cards he stopped me. he had a little piece of paper and he asked for my autograph, and he said when he joins band he wants to know what the brake drum is so he can play it too. mind you im 6’1 this kid was 4ft something, and he was so cute.
it was one of those moments of watching a little kid realize what they really want to do, and is another reason im glad i got the privilege and opportunity to play music and why i want to be a music educator.

My dad's side of the family is all musical and my mom has a degree in musical education, so Band, choir, AND orchestra were always on the table and I'm forever grateful!

This is why band is amazing, my middle school band plays for an elementary school every year at the start and goes back every couple months to teach the ones that did join. We do this so we can recruit new people and it's amazing as the next year I see those elementary kids and it makes me feel happy that we inspired kids to join us

This is one of the reasons I love band. I get to inspire little kids to join. Ive been in band for 5 years playing trumpet and my little brother is obsessed with coming to our concerts, seeing us for halftime during football games. He wants to play saxophone or tuba! Hes 8 and loves music!
