NASA successfully launched its first rocket from the newly created Arnhem Space Centre in the NT!

This is NASA's first launch from a commercial spaceport outside the US, and the first in Australia in 27 years.

The rocket will conduct astrophysics studies that can only be undertaken in the Southern Hemisphere.

The launch happened on land owned by the Yolngu people, and was heralded by a senior leader of the Gumatj clan, Djawa Yunupingu.

This was a project the pandemic nearly quashed. Equatorial Launch Australia, the company behind the plans for the space centre, was on the cusp of financial collapse…

But they pulled themselves out of the mire, and the space centre is slated to take on two more launches.
