I get so many messages about having a smear test / Cervical test. I thought I would take you along for my test with nurse @colette.mayhew
(filmed a while ago in Ramadan this year- While a smear test will not invalidate the fast, it is preferred, if possible, to delay the procedure until after Ramadan- for me due to lack of appointments, diary clashes my test landed on the first day of Ramadan & after consulting with a scholar, I had my test. And Allah knows best)

Cervical screening, which used to be called smear test, is a test to check the health of the cervix, detect HPV & help prevent cervical cancer

During the exam, you lie on your back on an examination couch, bend your knees, and open your legs. The health care provider uses a speculum with lubricant (on the side of the speculum) to gently open your vagina to see the cervix. Different size speculum can be used if you have any discomfort. A soft, narrow brush is used to collect a small sample of cells from your cervix.

On the NHS a cervical screening test is offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64.
