I remember the first time I used component cables with my 360 versus the composite ones before. Life changing. I could actually see details!

NOTE: it only works with games that support it, and even does that do, the majority doesn't run at HD, they go as high as 480p from the regular 480i

Plays dvds, helped me and brother bond better, HD gameplay in the 2000's ? This amazing piece of machinery could do just about anything.

Changing the output from RGB to YPbPr is only changing the output standard, not the resolution. A game that's 480i will remain 480i. The game you're showing is one of the very, very few that support not only 480p but also 1080i.

I just remember they had to be the color cables with the gold prongs. Came in so crisp. It's crazy seeing PS1/PS2 stuff so pixelated not remembering it like that one bit

I used an SVideo cable instead of composite to connect to my 1980’s CRT and my mind was blown

"change to HD output" is misleading.
that setting specifically refers to the kind of display you're using. Some PC monitors, for example, have a little thing called Sync-On-Green (the sync signal is carried on the same wire as the green channel), and the RGB setting is meant for those types of displays, i.e. use the component cables and hook them up to VGA via a passive adapter, and the monitor will do its magic.

the setting has no effect when composite cables are connected, and you will actually lose the signal if it's set to RGB while connected via component cable to a display that isn't SOG-capable.

the comparison shots in the short is the game running in 480i and 1080i, but this isn't because of the setting you changed in the PS2 bios menu. Again, misleading.

I had a Sony Triton WEGA CRT TV with a 720p mode. The PS2 and XBOX games that supported it looked amazing!

HD Retro Vision makes some really good component cables for Ps2 if anyone is looking to do this.

I still have my PS2 slim, and it amazingly still runs. Even after my cat rubbed on it and nocked it over a couple of times. It was made back when things were built to last.

I have those hooked up right now. Kept a Sony CRT for all my older consoles, it allows 480p I think, which looks pretty decent.

I run my PS2 silver slim with these cables and settings. It maximises the console.

It’s crazy how the slim was so ahead, that’s the one I had and it had a built in broadband Ethernet port and it had an HDMI port as well.
