No no no. Automatic updates are basically the only way your device would ever get updated, because I can guarantee nobody would remember nor care to manually update each and every app. Some of those apps are security updates for vulnerable apps, and if you think your firestick isnt a target for hackers, you're dead wrong.
For the love of dog, dont turn off automatic updates unless you plan on putting your device on its own network, isolated from the internet.
Kinda defeats the point of a streaming stick, yeah?
