La Bolsa this year has had no end of stones within the consignment. Don't take it that the coffee is sub-par, rather, there has been an error at the dry mill. Without our destoner, we would be unknowingly passing 5-6 stones per 12kg batch of green roasted. This could have been a disaster for our clients grinders. However, the device shown has removed the 'heavy' stones from each of the roasted batches.
So how does it work? The roasted batch is dropped into a hopper, which is then lifted into a silo by drawing the beans up through the chute shown by a high velocity fan. This leaves heavy items in a tray of which can be disposed of.
It may be an expensive item to have within a roastery, but I cannot recommend one enough!
