Germany’s advanced military might have given them an advantage early on, but the Soviet Union’s vast resources, population, and harsh winters would have made the conflict far from easy. When Germany launched Operation Barbarossa in 1941, they quickly captured large areas of Soviet territory, however, the Soviets moved their factories deep into the east, keeping their war production going.
Germany could have focused on securing vital resources like the Caucasus oil fields, though stretching their supply lines would have left them vulnerable to Soviet counterattacks. Meanwhile, the Soviets had overwhelming manpower and could replace losses faster than Germany. Although the Germans might have made significant gains, the brutal Russian winter and the Soviets’ ability to rebuild would eventually wear them down. In the end, the Soviet Union’s endurance and resources would have likely led to their victory in a prolonged war.

One of the largest contributors to Soviet Victory was the land lease act from the allies, which not only kept the Soviet fighting while moving their factory into the Caucasus in 42 43, it gave a good distraction to the Germans fighting in North Atlantic, diverting a considerable amount of Germany’s finite manpower and resources.
Remember that by end of 1942 with considerable amount of manpower diverted to North Africa, North Atlantic and Greece and the growing threat of an allied invasion on Continental Europe, the German army, now in the face of a fully mobilized Soviet Manpower, was still closing onto Moscow. The Soviet manpower for all its numbers, without the allied help, is just throwing bodies and machine at the Germans. and Krushchev and Zhukov admitted that the Soviet Union wouldn’t exist past 44 if the land lease and cooperation from the allies wasn’t there.
