Poetry; as it is part of every language and culture, in Urdu it has a distinguished status and a very unique way of expression of sentiments. There are famous poets in Urdu Poetry but few of them have a much contribution to Urdu language and as well as Urdu poetry, therefore, they are still quoted and remembered. Few of the Famous Urdu poets are, Mir Taqi Mir, Mirza Ghalib, Allama Iqbal, Mir Anees, Zouq, and Josh Malihabadi.
There are Different forms in Urdu Poetry for example Ghazal, Nazam, Qasida, Manqabat, Masnavi, and Ruba’i but, Ghazal and Nazam is considered the base of Urdu Poetry.
Certain rules related to poetry and grammar defines the types of poetry, like, ghazal must have a Qafiah, Radeef, Matalla and Maqtah. Unlike ghazal, Nazam must have a rhythm but yet the above-mentioned rules of ghazal does not apply to it.
