What should you do to go from a sub-d model to a low poly model? What are techniques you would recommend? I assume one way to fake nice curves would use normal maps, right? I'm curious how you can go from a very high detailed car model to a low polly version but it would still look very high detailed (unless you are really looking for sharp low poly corners).

10K polygons on single gun is not low-poly, its pretty high.
