When I was a kid I was terrified of Mormons.
I watched a documentary on cults with my dad, and whenever they knocked on our door I thought they would kidnap me and brainwash me (six year old me didn't quite get how cults worked, lol), but I remember the sense of pure horror I got from them.

Haven't seen the movie, and Mormonism isn't as prevalent in Australia, but that "ever so sweet and bubbly" personality is truly ingrained, isn't it? Even one lesbian, addict, sex worker ex-mo I met was still syrupy sweet. It was quite bizarre!

Looking through some old PC folders, I found this somewhat big collection of pictures of these missionaries I hung out with 9+ years ago!! Found this very picture of the boys wearing no name tag at this Sport Day event. Sister missionaries dressed exactly like Sister Barnes and Sister Paxton! It was amazing to see those pictures after all these years!!

π€ i see missionaries (male) all the time in my town and I've never seen them with name tags! They're always in suits, look like they should be off playing sports not walking around like vacuum salesmen and carry Mormon literature or tracts to quickly hand out.
I genuinely wonder why missionaries in our town are a thing. The LDS Church is a singular very small building that's always locked (i grew up playing in the parking lot!) and they never appear to have an open house or invitation to attend open. The nearest large temple would be at least 3 hours away, but finding info on how to attend seems to be a mystery. Like they've given me the Book of Mormon but never info on being a guest at the church. As a kid I actually wanted to join, my parents would've let me, but the doors were always locked so i never got to go in. I found it so weird bc i was Catholic and anyone can walk in off the streets and sit in on a service! Obviously now i feel lucky to not have joined but i genuinely don't understand the point of local missionaries when it's locked doors

I'm so glad people are talking about this movie because it was genuinely amazing in so many ways. On of my favorite details is that none of the characters swear because thatβs looked down upon in many religions. The most they say is damn and fricking

I was previously Mormon and I had not even realized how awful they are until I found your channel. My mom is not religious but my grandma would take me to church. At church everyone would bash on my parents for not going to church. My mom never said anything bad. That is when I realized the real problem is the church. They are the ones preaching βbe kind to othersβ and yet all the members are more judgmental than the non members.

Omg, i just realized when seeing the tags that i actually saw some mormon missionaries (southern germany). They actually had those name thingies on both their jackets and shirts, ig to save time. Were too far away that i could see what was written on them, but i did have a feeling that they were missionaries, they just had this kinda vibe going on (and both seemed very slightly dressed for a some type of medieval faire). Shame, they were kinda cute
