Why not just leave the lines permanently attached to the tarp.
That way you never have to fumble in the dark, rain or cold trying to tie them on.
Prebuild everything.
I use a hardware grade snaplink attached to the ridgeline with a bowline for the first anchor point.
Wrap it around a tree snap in the line and pull.
On the ridgeline I have 4 prussik loops made out of gutted 550 cord.
I pull free running end around another tree and pass it through the closest prussik loop and apply tension like a truckers hitch.
Other than securing the truckers hitch I dont have to tie anything.
Challenge yourself after you come up with all these genius tarp shelter solutions with a scenario.
It is dark, your headlight broke and your prinary hand is injured.
See how many of these knots you can tie one handed.

If you wanted it more secure you could possibly use a half hitch. I feel it wouldnt be sure enough to trust it. Cool if I wondered about variation in a to the bowline. Thank You. I would use a timber hitch or a bowline mixed as a larks head and it comes off easy enough when needed. I'm finding more and more useful knots as I learn
