I would have to agree with a couple of the others as far as checking the flywheel and make sure it didn’t break the key. If it looks good give that carb a good cleaning. Carb kits and even a new carb are rather cheap online.

If its back firing through the carb the flywheel key is sheared. Probbly hit something. Check the blade. See if its bent. Basically its out of time. Flywheel key is under the case that holds the pull cord.
