âEight years ago, a young woman from Chamonix decided to look after the historic Refuge de la Charpoua alone. In the 2019 season, she brought her first child with her on the climb up to the hut. And sheâs added a second baby to the hut-keeping life since then. â
The over 100-year-old, one-room refuge has remained largely unchanged besides the addition of a few net barriers to prevent accidents. But itâs probably the first time in its history that itâs also hosted two young kids.â
