Use bore dial gauge, feeler gauge only fit and proper for flat to flat surface, whereas piston and cylinde have rounded contact-surface. Using feeler may look works on piston-cylinder gap, but the deviation quite big. Again, this getting worst on diesel engine since it need precission piston gap to generate hi-compression.
