That’s great if your in a high wind survival situation but little sista…that’s why we use rocks on the base and edges of pits it’s so the heat doesn’t kill all the soil life😊 rock your pits and keep the soil by it to refill them when you leave…leave no trace❤

Yes, the Dakota fire pit. Just be sure that there are no roots to catch fire near dead stumps. You'd be surprised how far they can travel, and how long they will burn.

Finally, a good video on building a "Dakota Fire Pit", and with the right tools, which should have been brought in the first place
The only thing else I bring is a 2 .5" by 18" or 24"aluminum tube which makes boring a hole to the pit easier and quicker by using a piece of wood and your hatchet or axe to
act as a buffer when making the air vent.
Also, I use the Aluminum tube to carry a collapsible fishing pole and tackle as well as a First Aid Kit ; with the tube sealed and carried on the side of my pack so it doesn't take up any room inside my pack.
