I wouldnât say that, the writers at least in the anime did a great job showing how toxic Light was to her and unfortunately it was a tragedy that her self-esteem was so low that she relied heavily on Light.l who took advantage of her vulnerability.
When she was talking to the girl he was âtrying to pull information about Kiraâ she starts to heavily drink from a wine bottle. She dresses in scandalous clothes even when Light isnât home. The poor girl is desperate for his affection and it is because she herself lost her parents and she has no real friends. (Except for maybe Rem and perhaps L in an alternate reality, but they both succumbed to Lightâs manipulation.)
I view her story as a tragedy and I think of alternate universes where she could have had a happy ending. (Maybe fallen for L instead at the very least her vulnerability wouldnât be taken advantage of.
