As always, you can use the link on this video to see the full episode with all 3 rounds and more details about the experiments that I couldn't fit into the short. Thanks for watching!

In case anyone’s wondering, the ice caps melting WILL raise sea levels bc the ice is on land, not the water.

Water actually expands when it freezes, that's why water freezing in pipes is a common reason for pipes bursting. That said, when the ice melts it takes up less space than the ice does. Considering that, and the displacement of the water from the ice, there ends up being no difference between the water level when it melts.

I love this series because it makes me feel like a total idiot, I don't know basic reality. "I know that I know nothing"

2 for sure. Water level stays the same unless there are impurities or they aren't actually floating.

The magnet phenomenon is why basic rice cookers work. The magnet completes a circuit, heating the pot. Once the pot reaches a certain temp (I think 140f) the magnet loses grip on the metal, breaking the circuit. Once the metal cools enough, the magnet sticks again, and the closed circuit reheats the pot.

Edit: The magnet is actually only used in the cooking cycle, not the warming cycle. The magnet closes the circuit while cooking, and opens the circuit once the temperature of the pot makes the magnet not stick. It doesn't "restick" once the metal cools.

The magnet trick is actually how a lot of blacksmiths check if metal is at the right temperature for forging. A magnet won't be attracted to iron or steel if it's heated above a certain point, which is an ideal temperature for working the metal. Likewise a magnet won't attract to metal if it's heated because the atoms are too excited and moving in different directions.

As long as the ice is wholly supported by the water (not resting on the bottom) then it's exact weight in (liquid) water is already displaced.

I think it's the ammo one because you moved the paper which contains the gunpowder disc so the plastic cup part is completely empty

The third one is mean. The concept of a magnet losing its ferromagnetism when heated is true, but the temperature for that is different for each material. The candle likely wouldn't do it, but I don't have those limits for everything memorized.

It’s why global warming is an issue! The glaciers already in the ocean don’t make a difference to sea level, it just destroys areas for arctic animals to live. The terrible part is when the ice ON THE LAND melts! Antarctica used to be green, under all that ice and snow is land! So when THOSE ice caps melt off into the ocean, we have issues because that water wasn’t in the ocean before. Also the ice may hold some ancient diseases and even animals that could be further detrimental to life of all kinds on earth.

It's funny there are step by step instructions and it says do not attempt lol.

"WARNING: DO NO ATTEMPT!" Definitely wouldn't be fake. (And dang the 2nd one was obvious, it isn't hard anymore 😭

The water lvl is the most asked physics question 😅

B, water level doesn’t change. The ice is above the water because it’s density is lower than water due it’s crystalline structure

I know for a fact tons of people fell for this one, but I actually knew the second one was false because I did the melting ice experiment as a little kid.
