I haven’t seen any Monitors or laptops with a native display port attached. It’s either HDMI/DVI OR HDMI/VGA on a monitor and always hdmi on laptop. Older laptops may have DisplayPort but it’s rare.

I just bought the 49" Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC) DQHD 240Hz 0.03ms Curved Smart Gaming Monitor. I need to get a longer cable to connect to my PC. Looking at the specifications for the monitor, I noticed the Display port was version 1.4 and not the latest 2.1. The HDMI port is 2.1, which seem superior to the DP 1.4. Would I be correct in getting a HDMI 2.1 compatible cable for the best performance. The GPU I will be using is a powercolor hellhound amd radeon rx 7900 gre graphics card 16gb gddr6. It has both HDMI 2.1 and display 2.1 ports

I have a laptop without DP, so I can only connect to my monitor by using a hdmi cable, but It only go up to 120hz, if I get an hdmi to dp adapter it will give me more hz? My monitor supports 180hz but I can only use 120hz.

Is DP more geared for gaming? I have a new monitor and my gpu is an rtx 3060. I dont game. Does it matter then whether i use dp vs hdmi? Thanks
