I had an overall successful weekend outdoors!

On Friday I got our puppy out to do some scouting for ducks. She hasn’t really been out in the woods or really exposed to long walks yet. She did so good, and even tried to chase down some birds!

I found a few promising spots to hunt the next morning, so we called it a night and prepped for the next morning.

2:30am came quick. I got a good breakfast in, and hit the road. We ended up not getting to our spot as early as we wanted. We ran into a lot less water than we thought, and we couldn’t push the boat much further. We had to settle for the bank of the lake, got set up, and started the waiting game!

@ian ended up smacking a red head but that was all we could get. There were other groups hammering them close by so we didn’t see much traffic. We did see a little buck though!

I then started my first scout for deer season. Walked a few miles back into the deep timber around the lake and found a few promising signs! Now it’s time to plan, set the stand, and get out there!

Today I got some reps in with the bow. I took it pretty easy. I’m ready to tackle tomorrow and hit the first week of November hard!
