In the majority of EVs, they're using cylindrical cell batteries. They don't swell up like this and last MUCH longer. If they would use the LiFePo4 chemistry even though it's slightly less energy sense, you could even put a nail through a cell and be safe.

I mean, as long as you properly dispose of it (some battery recycling center or other place) itās not much of an issue. My old Galaxy S6ās battery swelled up but never exploded. However, if that does happen to you HANDLE THE BATTERY WITH CARE and avoid sharp objects, drops, heat, or water.

So keep it in a freezer and save money on a data plan as well. My first battery got pillowy or soft baloon. The last one that went south got rock hard (ebay special) and got a little bigger as well. They all swell i think but the tip off is low capacity.
