Swiss Army knives of the equine world. Which is not to say horses can’t be versatile as well! I really liked the guy who slid off the back of the mule and crawled through the mule’s legs. It’s a credit to the trainer and the mule, but especially the mule! Thank you for sharing!

Mules were the work animal of choice for centuries. We just hit a point where people decided that they wanted to get all macho about the way they train animals and declared force to be a necessity to "win" when training. Mules won't put up with that, you either work with them or they won't work for you. So they were deemed "stubborn" and fell out of fashion for a while. Glad to see they're making a comeback though!

My dad traded on mules in the 70s. I've plowed with mules. Always loved them!

Always popular in the work environment. Now people are finding they are smart and fun as well as excellent workers. One old girl used to make them out of draft horses. Giant mules. Giant strength. Giant love.

Had a mare that I trusted with my life and the lives of my kids. She babysat them many an hour when I was choring
Later logged with an old mule that babysat me and taught me to logg. I trusted him and loved him. He was the BEST. He'd back up in those tops , stop while I climbed over down limbs and back up more I'd hook the tongs and he'd pull just enough to keep the tongs from falling out till I climbed out and was clear then I'd tell him "it's all yours Tom" and he'd pull it to the truck.

They are wonderful pack animals. The Forest Service here in California use them up in the mountains to move supplies and stock lakes with fish.

People figured out how raise them carefully and have a better, smarter partner.
If you earn the trust of a mule they are stronger, wiser, and have jeep-like qualities. But you must respect their self protective attitude.
