0.1 FPS better, long PCI-e superiority confirmed.

Using a shorter connecter also allows the card or multiple cards to be used in a server that doesn't always have an abundance of 16x slots but will have a load of 8x slots. Could be useful for an AI or machine learning application.

Fun fact: The 4060 have a die size similar in size to the GTX 1050 TI, but Nvidia charges the triple the price for it.

back in the days, my AMD RX460 is also a 8x. But it was just £70 or so.

Definitely should have been the rtx 4050 and 200$ long gone are the good budget options of yesteryear.

I’m just wondering if the card is as structurally sound considering you can’t clip it in. That cooler looks pretty big and it could maybe flex the pcb

Seeing a RGINHD short pop up has just made my morning. Cheers mate!

PCIe 4.0 at x8 has the theoretical speed the same as PCIe 3.0 at x16, what it may save is power consumption from the motherboard as it has less pins and will rely more on PSU connectors instead

I'm pretty sure using the long connection also saves money since all PCBs can be printed from the same machine instead of using personalized ones for each number of lanes, also the full length ones have the clip that allows the card to be attached more securely

What takes away from the "actual gaming experience" is the 4060.

I am literally gonna cry if the RTX 4050 doesn’t come with a mini PCIE connector.

I understand it's not technically necessary but for physical stability, I'm a fan of longer connectors. Also, it helps it perform better in older PCs if the connector is not only full length but completely enabled.

We're gonna see a lot of cracked PCB's...

Do you get more gpu sag? Also you can't lock it in place anymore

Some manufacturers are working on using the extra lanes to put m.2 slots on their GPUs.

These are all cards that shouldn't be used in computers that don't support PCIe 4.0. Computer with PCIe 3.0 need 16 lanes GPUs.

It does affect performance if you have an older mb with PCIe 3.0, so if you don't wanna change your motherboard you might wanna check that out before buying newer GPUs, not all games will be affected but I just wanted to mention it to less informed people.

Being a shorter pci-e bridge might not affect performance but it might shorten the cards lifespan from the pcb cracking easier since it's shorter under the card's weight depending on how it's installed.

could you do a comparison of the 4060 on pcie 3.0 vs 4.0? perhaps even on an older cpu like say.... 3770k. asking for a friend.

For those that don't know, the PCI Express standard is backwards and forwards compatible, latency and delay tolerant. If you plug a x16 card into a x1 slot, it will run using only 1 lane instead of 16. While that will give you less performance, the card will still work.
