Now 70 minutes is clearly an exceptional event, maybe a tree fell on the tracks or something.
On average yeah there always is at least one or two trains that are 5-10 minutes late at any given time.

For almost 2 months I took the Regional trains in and out of Rome and they were always on time. One day one was like 3 mins late. It was lovely.

I had better experiences with Italian trains than with German ones

Keep in mind that you always need to validated your ticket! You can do it online if you book your ticket online

Looks better than any average day in Germany. Our long distance trains can have absurd delays.

This was pretty much my experience in Germany last year, too.

And that's one reason why I just keep going to Japan over and over again :-)

The latest my regional train was late for when I was in Monterosso was 45 minutes. It varies from time to time. It happens to the best of us with those regionals :)
