In my opinion, you get a more expressive sound by putting saturation before compression.

Although i do double track (separately recorded), first track on full left with soft reverb on full right, on second track i do the opposite, it's important to use different reverbs on each track, in many situation it can't sound bad!

Before I would touch any of that plugin shit I would go out and find the sweet spot away from the hole,
and position accordingly
it might take a couple of tries
plug one ear and liste
n in mono into your head move your ear around around the guitar you will find many nodes of tasty sound that you may not even have to process at all

Having a good acoustic makes a huge difference. A couple years ago when I had a Martin D28 it sounded good all the time. The Alverez I have now is impossible to sound anywhere close.
