Canonicaly, mewtwo is a clone of mew made by team rocket, and ditto are the failed clones of mew

Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s canon that ditto is kind of like a jumbled up version of mew that came from some mew evolving so fast that they just became a blob and could turn into anything.

Mewtwo and the legendary birds are genderless. Technically, nidorans are the only gendered Pokémon in gen 1.

Something else to add here is in the pixelmon mod they have a machine you can use to make mewtwo which I think requires you to have mew and when making mewteo their is a chance that instead of getting mewtwo you'll get a ditto so I've always liked the theory that dittos are failed mewtwos

and funnily enough tho ditto and mewtwo are clones of mew, mewtwo can't learn transform but ditto only knows transform.

Ditto is a mew failed clone and mew is every Pokémon because in the start after access created the universe there was only mews and the they evolved to other pokemone
