Let’s see if I remember:
1) It was a Holy Grail discovery because before it we knew nothing about how to translate Heiroglyphics,
2) Its the same message repeated three times in three languages: Hieroglyphics Ancient Egyptian (sorry I know that’s not the proper name), a different script of Ancient Egyptian with letters instead of pictures, and Ancient Greek,
3) Ancient Greek is still understood, so some geniuses were able to figure out the Ancient Egyptian writing by comparing it to the Ancient Greek writing, and
4) It was discovered in the 18th or 19th Century in a French colony in Africa(?).
Hopefully I hit the highlights but it’s been awhile.
