Un-natural movement aside, that Retro robot face is a good call.

I love that a robot moves like a robot. It doesn't need to mimick the form of a human body, just the function

the fact they managed to get a humanoid robot to trigger uncanny valley by movement alone is really impressive

From a utility standpoint it’s probably useful that it can turn 360, imagine it moves boxes from one shelf to another behind and all it has to do is rotate instead of stepping around to turn. Presentation was hilarious, but its definitely a flex.

They better put a huge ass cartoon button in the back that says ">SHUT DOWN<"

Real talk though this is an incredible feat in technology.

Man, I can’t wait for this robot to kick in my door and tell me I have to pay my taxes.

The only thing that weirdly interested me more than the tech in this video is the DFV t-shirt

Because our degree of movement is limited doesn't mean our robots should have such limitations.

This makes the robot more efficient.

The range of motion puts it squarely in uncanny valley despite the lack of a face. Still necessary for it to be good at a wider range of tasks

The 360-degree articulation of its joints is impressive. To me, it's not unsettling at all. Envision the commercial, industrial, and eventual consumer applications for such a versatile robot. I believe there's no need for humanoid robots to be constrained by the same range of motion as humans.

We both said β€œmmh mhmm” at the same time πŸ˜‚
That was creepy; to say the least.
They should put an emoticon for the face though, it would look cute/more like a face

Boston Dynamics is showing that they moved away from hydraulic actuators and managed to create a robot with electric motors, which are more flexible and controllable.
On the goodbye video of the old version they showed a lot of cases where pumps and pipes were exploding and now they show the versatility of the new version, which can be more compact and dynamic.
