One error in this short...
Diesel/electric subs are usually quieter than nuclear subs while underwater on battery power.

Swedish Gotland class sub is one of, if not the world's stealthiest subs and it's diesel electric. The problem is that it has to let burnt diesel fumes out at some point and it has to surface so it could be possible to predict it's next surfacing location just based off of when she farted the last time.

True they don’t need to be refuelled…

But the humans inside do.

The next gen Astute class for the British Royal Navy is a quantum leap in underwater stealth tech. Much of the tech will end up shared with America for modification and upgrades for current and next gen subs

Nuclear subs also make clean water and oxygen on board for the crew. No need to go to the top for air.

If not for food. It could spend 20+ years under the ocean and never come back up.

Surly an autonomous Submarine is in the works.

They may not need harbors for fuel, but they do need food.

Indian neavy was going to order 3rd aircraft carrier but they changed their decision and going to buy nuclear subs around 6 and 75i program will give us around 6 more sub

The difference between modern conventional subs and nuclear is their mission not their stealth. Nuclear is better for patrolling long distances, but conventional is better for littoral waters and defending/denying access to certain areas. The US only has nuclear subs not because nuclear is better but because they don't need to use conventional subs. It's not a mission the US Navy needs to perform.

Fun fact: The US Navy also has over 11 nuclear powered Aircraft carriers and France only has 1, and every other country doesn’t have any

Atomic submarine doesn't need to refule but the crew still need to eat, drink and rest

Germany, Sweden and a couple of other countries have air-independent fuel-cell run submarines which are quieter than anything the US navy has.

It depends on the country's defensive needs, economy, and industrial capability. Which will inform their naval doctrine.

In small, shallow seas diesel-electric subs are more practical since they are smaller, quieter when submerged and more manoeuvrable. But USA has lots of allies with subs in Europe and really no reason to operate subs in Mexican Gulf.

Except they are much noisier. And while the boat doesn’t need fuel for decades, the people do. So nuclear submarines are not independent of ports.

Yes, thank you for telling us what we’ve known since the advent of the USS Nautilus in 1952.

And between diesel electric and nuclear we have the Swedish air independent propulsion with sterling engines, can be submerged for a month, leaves no heat, but are so small to navigate inside archipelagos.
