The circle disappears because it enters the blind spot of your right eye which is created at the point where your optic nerve connects to your eye

It is woking because there is a spot called a blind spot in your eye, its a place, where the optic nerve is coming out of your eye, it doesn't have any light receptors in there, so you don't see certain area, e.g. when you looking at the cross and moving your head, the circle at some point will be at this blind spot, which makes it to disappear. There is one more interesting fact about your body.

Scientific explanation - the eyeball contain a region at the junction of retina and optic nerves called the blind spot or area of no vision. In this experiment we basically try to make the circle's image be made at the blind spot. As soon as the circle's image is made at the blind spot the circle disappears

Yeah, it's called a blind spot, if it doesn't work it means the range from the plus to the circle is incorrect, depends on the device

It’s called your blind spot, the place in your eyes where you just can’t see and your brain will put what it thinks should be there

It actually works depends on how you look at it, this happens because each eye has a 'blind spot'. The blind spot is on the side of the eye, and when that blind spot positions directly on that circle, the brain puts what it thinks there should be on that blind spot by blending it's surroundings which gives it the allusion that the circle disappeared, but it doesn't works for everybody because, weather you're blind spot is small, or you're looking at it incorrectly.
It's telling you to close your eye because it affects the allusion to work strongly. Fun fact: the other eye helps you see what's at the blind spot to get u to see better. Like if you think I'm smart👇

For the people that don't know when you cover your left eye your right eye stays focused on only the plus because you have to stare at it also if you looked at the circle and covered your right eye it would do the same thing but when you shake your phone it's so your brain get confused and starts getting wonky
