It was probably all fun and games at the start until someone felt more neglected or pushed out. From what I've learnt, a lot of people in these types of relationships tend to fall apart. Someone always end up not feeling great with it. A lot of people usually suggest this when they feel something is currently lacking and then wants to call it off when they're satisfied, only for things to not turn out the way they wanted. But if you agree to it (or suggest it) and then you have to face the consequences.
