They support Palestine and gay rights why not Israel and gay rights. Not everyone needs to legalize gay marriage. Long as gay people are not harmed and left alone. For a lot of countries marriage is still a bond blessed by god.

I'm more concerned with mandatory voting. That's not how to deal with voter apathy. Instead, how about we give people the day off on Election Day? Make it a holiday that floats around. Might be in June one election-cycle, and in October the next. And make mail-in voting easier. We already create voter-registration lists from when you file your taxes. Include a question on the tax-return, "Do you want a mail-in ballot?", tick yes, and you get a mail-in ballot for the next election.
