Mohg is a game of patience. He has a lot of moves that are inherently not punishable if he randomly decides to follow up with certain others, like the exploding claw move.

First tip is to always roll into him like all bosses and be very patient. In his second phase almost every attack throws blood around, so it’s especially not recommended to roll backwards into the blood.

His claw move doesn’t do damage until the explosion, so just wait and dodge the explosion.

In his first phase, the charging explosion move is very punishable if you dodge to his right when he does the move. After the explosion you don’t need to dodge his swing as it goes over you. This was inconsistent in the second phase, so I recommend to always roll the second swing there, as it is still very punishable.

In every phase he will have large delays before a lot of his combo extenders, so you need to identify when a combo actually has ended to punish him, or he will punish you.

When he rains blood on himself you can’t punish him.

If you find yourself dying even with the crystal tear, I recommend also using the tear that heals 50% of your health, and drinking the potion right before he begins his nihil thing. Usually begins right after he counts to one.

And having your vigor at a high enough level always helps.
