A bit of additional information and interesting facts about where Vivienne borrowed creatures from for her series, And what changes and additions, as well as features they carry.
1)Hellhounds: Characters from European folklore and supporting antagonists in religion and mythology. They are demonic, ghostly or otherworldly dogs, often depicted with unusual shapes and appearances: huge sizes, black wool, red eyes or many heads. Most often depicted as helpers of demons, hunters of human souls, servants of the Devil, or favorites of the god of the underworld and death, who guard the afterlife. Often they were also a symbol of misfortune that they brought by their appearance, bringing death to a person who was unlucky enough to meet them. The most famous Hellhounds from mythology and folklore are: Cerberus from Greek mythology, Garm from Norse mythology, Black Shuck from English/British folklore.
In the series, for obvious reasons, the Hellhounds were made much more anthropomorphic and convenient for the audience to perceive creatures. They generally maintain their positions as servants of other, more powerful demons. Even the imps, which are the lowest caste of demons, are above them. Outwardly, they are all kinds of canids and dog breeds, they have great strength, speed and an extraordinary sense of smell, thanks to which, even after smelling just one a sheet of paper with a name, they are able to find the right person in a large crowd. Also, their most important feature is the ability to turn into humans, that is, they have added the features of werewolves. Like all Hellborn Demons, they have black blood and are mortal, and can die either naturally or from a gunshot and piercing and cutting weapons. They can also catch certain diseases, in particular Hellbies, from which they urgently need to be vaccinated, otherwise the consequences can be terrible. All Hellhounds originate from the Ring of Gluttony and are under the dominion of their mistress and eventual creator, Beelzebub. It can also be assumed that Hellhounds were once just non-rational service animals, since the attitude towards them on the part of the inhabitants of Hell resembles for the most part rather the attitude of owners to pets, and as it was shown, the puppies of Hellhounds are kept in special prisons-shelters, reminiscent of classic obedience dog schools or dog prisons. These may be remnants of those ancient times when Hellhounds were just beasts, and since then, even when they evolved and evolved, many demons still treat them this way. Just like in mythology, they may possibly have unusual and fantastic features, at least they can grow to gigantic sizes. They do various jobs in Hell, but the main ones are guards, bodyguards, and bouncers. The sexual orientation of Hellhounds is not fully known, but the example of Loona and Vortex shows that they only have "a Male and a Female".
2)Succubusses/Incubusses - Characters and minor antagonists of European folklore and Christianity. They are creepy and sinister creatures that belong to the category of folklore and mythological creatures - Mara. These creatures most often come at night and sit on the chest of a sleeping person, and cause him pain, frighten him or drain vital and temporary energy. Later, these creatures received the nickname of the "Demons of Sleep Paralysis". And this is due to the fact that their existence is explained by sleep paralysis, a condition in which a person is temporarily paralyzed during sleep and begins to see all sorts of creepy things. In the same way, alien abductions, shadow people, Hatman and other terrible characters of folklore and supposedly real cases of supernatural sightings are explained in this way too. Once in Christianity, these creatures began to be identified as demons of lust, Succubi come to men, and Incubi to women. An origin was also invented for them, according to which they were created by Lilith herself, who was also their queen.
In the series, again, for the convenience of the audience, these creatures were shown as much more soft and humane, but still not devoid of their status as demons of lust and debauchery. They originate from the Ring of Lust and are most likely the offspring of Asmodeus the Sin of Lust, or perhaps Lilith as the original religion proper. Their task is to give pleasure to humans, seducing them to carnal pleasures, to spread lust. They are mortal and can die and be killed. They can turn into humans. They are also one of the few demon species who can go to Earth. To do this, they use Asmodeus crystals, which also possibly help them to turn into humans. They can also fly thanks to their wings, but they prefer to move on foot. All Succubi and Incubi are bisexual and can date and make love as a man to a woman, as well as a woman to a woman or a man to a man. And in their position in the Hell Hierarchy, the Succubi and Incubi, being one of the Hellborn Demons, are superior to the Imps and Hellhounds.
