Just to clarify, any confusion. A granddaddy, long leg is not harmful whatsoever. If you see one, do not panic, they can’t harm you.

Daddy long leg spiders are everywhere in Australia, they’re harmless mosquito eating angels from the heavens.

Edit: This got a tad bit more attention than I intended, also, I still stand by my point that thy are harmless angels, if anyone says otherwise, you haven’t seen a real spider.

As an Australian I feel inclined to say that these little buggers are LIFE SAVERS in summer because of the mosquitoes. Also they’re everywhere

I'm Aussie, and these are great creatures.
Sure it's annoying around your house but they also eat mosquitos and flies too. Also, daddy long legs fangs cannot bite into humans, hurt you, or do anything to you to harm you, so don't freak out too much if it's on you. But that doesn't mean let it crawl all over you, it can still go in your mouth
Jk they don't usuallhclimb on you if your next to it

“When you see this, do not touch it!”

Bruh, it’s fine to touch. For clarification, Harvestmen, or “Daddy Long-Legs”, cannot bite due to their size. So this makes them completely safe to handle, although it may feel uncomfortable to some individuals, especially those with Arachnophobia. However, this doesn’t mean that they will bite, but they will actually try to flee when handled because, once again, they can’t effectively bite us due to their size. They even know they can’t bite us, so as a result, the developed the ability to consciously detach their own limbs if the get caught in order to act as an escape method, and they only lose a leg and a single drop of Hemolymph(that’s their blood). By about 12 hours after losing the leg, they eventually develop and learn a new way to walk without the one leg, and go about their lives as normal, and they can even lose up to three legs and still learn a new way to walk normally.

Remember folks, if you think something that someone said isn’t true, ALWAYS DOUBT IT. Or at least doubt it until you conduct your own research(from a trustworthy source I would hope) and can confirm whether it’s true or false information.

Edit: Another thing, is when looking online for clarification about whether something is true or not, be sure to keep your eye out for things like citations, quotes, and names of doctors, scientists, or any individual that specializes in the scientific field before reading on. A lot of websites can and will trick you into believing something that’s not true, so be sure to check for signs that they’re giving false information such as lack of citations, quotations, or names of doctors in the scientific field.

Daddy long legs are harmless to humans, it’s actually a good thing to have them in your home since they eat pests like flies
