My step-son is a Methodist pastor & used to bring us extra loaves of the King's Hawaiian bread they used for communion. I love that bread, but I'm an atheist and haven't gone to communion in 30 years..

The fact that there are over 200 different christian faiths in the U.S. (45,000 globally) should tell you all you need to know about the overwhelming differences of opinion in the christian world. And all claiming to draw their inspiration from god himself.

I grew up presbyterian, and we had a few ways we received communion. most commonly, ushers brought around trays of cubes of bread, then they brought around trays of wine/grape juice. other times, we would file up the middle aisle, receive the bread, shuffle a couple of steps to the side, then receive the wine or grape juice.
my wife grew up lutheran, and they mostly would file up to the altar, which has a banister around it, and they would take turns kneeling to receive the bread and wine, then go back to their seats.

Paul is right. And as kids we’d go up after the service and finish the bread cubes and grape juice. Somehow Wonder bread and Welshes never tasted so good.

As a young kid I was a Catholic. Spent several decades of my life as a Southern Baptist. For around a decade I attended an E-Free church, and before I finally stopped believing in Christianity and theism I attended a Methodist Church for a year.
Each denomination/church had slight differences in how b they performed communion.

Wait a minute, but in my old church in the US you’d walk up to the alter in a single file line with your hands cupped palms up, and the priest would pick up the wafer, say “the body of Christ”, and then place the wafer in your hands. Some weirdos would prefer the priest put it right in their mouths and walk up mouth open, which always weirded me out cuz I wondered whether it was awkward/uncomfortable for the priest 😂😂
