인간을 물어버린 ‘죄’로 재판에 부쳐진 개. 재판의 결과에 따라 안락사에 처해질 지 모르는 개가 있습니다. 언젠가 스위스에서 실제로 일어난 일을 바탕으로 만들어진 이 영화는 시종일관 삐딱한 유머를 잃지 않으면서 사건의 본질을 집요하게 파고듭니다.

'법정에 선 개'는 인간과 비인간동물을 나누는 기준의 모호함을, 나아가 그 모호함을 기준 삼아 내려지는 판결의 불합리함을 재판의 과정 내내 증명해냄으로써 비단 동물권뿐만 아니라 페미니즘, 이민자, 장애인권, 아동인권 등 모든 소수자성을 현명하게 아울러 화두에 올리는 데 성공합니다.
