My apartment in Paris was far out in the Montmartre area of Paris. The metro (subway) was a short walk away. It was not at all close to the touristy part of the city. And since I was there for 2 weeks, I am glad I had a more authentic experience of Paris living. I was definitely living with the locals. The charm of the old buildings and the gorgeous old doors and hardware melted my heart immediately.

Our taxi driver decided to give us the “scenic route” by driving around the block again and again, jacking up our eventual bill. Sigh… I guess that’s part of the Paris experience too.

We had on our 4 block road 3 fruit stands, 2 bakeries, 7 restaurants, 5 sunglasses shops, a grocery store, 2 cheese shops, 1 chocolate shop, a fresh seafood store, 2 butcher shops, floral shops, clothing stores, etc. Everything we could possibly need right outside our door. I loved my street so much!

Our apartment was small and charming. I think for Paris, our bathroom was decent size. A very tidy and clean vrbo. Our host used her phone translator to communicate, and she was so sweet. The hardware in the apartment was so old, like all the buildings in Paris. I was so fascinated by all the old hardware and rod iron window boxes. I think every window has a flower box.

It was a very comfortable apartment and I felt very safe in all my travels. I kept aware of the string bracelet guys and pickpockets, although we did let a “survey” lady with a clipboard help us at the airport. She demanded in a not so nice voice money after she “helped” us.

The locals were very kind and helpful. I had no rudeness at all. They showed nothing but patience with my lack of french speaking skills.
I had such a delightful experience with the locals.

I miss Paris….
