When I was growing up. Honky tonk was a music genre AND a bar. Like a country bar.

It's a country bar lol. Where there's drinking, dancing two-step, or line dancing( newer generation may not do that). Some still may have the old electric bulls you could ride. Just a place to go and let loose.

Yes, a country western bar with usually live music and lots of long neck beers. It’s also a verb in Texas (probably throughout the southern states), to go “honky tonkin” means to go country bar hopping.

I guess one of the only things that never made it across the pond to the UK from the US is country western bars where people drink and line dance or two step.

Honky tonk is a casual, old fashioned country western bar usually with a dance floor. It is cheap, sometimes kindof "low class" looking. But can be welcoming, laid back, and fun.

Usually a local bar with country and western style music were both cowboy's and cowgirls wear cowboy hats and Boots and do line dancing once in a while a fight will break out between both men and women the girls fight are the best in other words it can sometime get rowdy

If you watch the series where they made their way from Toronto to Miami....they stop in Nashville and have a TRUE TASTE of a live honky tonk on Broadway. Lol they thought downtown Nash was super loud!! 🙉 But they had bushwhackers!! Halarious content. Go check it out

Hahaha. It’s a bar with country western music and lots of beer and cowboy hats and women who look like if they weren’t in the honky tonk might be mistaken for a “lady of the night” on a street corner. She may or my not be wearing boots. 😂
